This is my first experience with this style and honestly I\u2019m struggling, even though I have a musical background and have written music in other genres before.<br><br>For inspiration I\u2019ve been listening to Free Love by Depeche Mode, Wonderful Life by Hurts and Initiation by Crosses.<br><br>The structure idea is intro and then immediately a big instrumental chorus without vocals. After that verse, pre-chorus and chorus. The artistic goal is to create something big, bright and memorable in that first chorus.<br><br>I want to stay minimal and use a small instrument palette if possible.<br><br>I\u2019ve experimented a lot but nothing really feels right yet. I\u2019m sharing my current version here. It includes intro, chorus, verse and pre-chorus.<br><br>The emotional goal is to move from a dark intro or dark verse into a light, airy, hopeful, wide and bright chorus. No matter what I try I can\u2019t fully achieve that feeling.<br><br>The harmony is quite simple. Mostly I and V and at the end IV and V. The bass doubles the melody. I got this idea from a Dua Lipa song. The top melody is also doubled by a wide pluck. I tried to create width with a big pad sidechained to the kick. There is also a wide guitar sample that should be memorable or at least noticeable.<br><br>I experimented with different rhythms and different levels of density but for now I stayed with a straight kick and snare because I want the track to stay danceable. I tried many ways to fill the space but nothing gives me the artistic effect I\u2019m looking for.<br><br>My ears are tired from working on this track for too long and I can\u2019t think of anything creative anymore.<br><br>I would really appreciate if you could listen and share your honest impressions.
