How do you guys deal with the frustration/negative feelings when continually failing a game? I love the practice and I can tell I'm learning every day... but man sometimes I just get irritated... anybody else?
So far I'm more of baffled by it than irritated about misidentifying frequencies. It's not just failing it but I feel frustrated that I can't associate certain frequencies with the right image. I feel like from 200 all the way 2000 Hz boosting makes it cuppy but what size cup should I imagine? Now what to do with the negative emotions? Think constructively; if you have a pattern of misidentification you can use that to pinpoint problem frequencies - not immediately but in steps. So you would say Damn I always confuse 1500 Hz with 250! then if your EQ move won't work, you can try the typically mistaken frequency. Which means you already learnt something valuable and you're better at mixing. Which is something positive!
I certainly have had (and continue to have) those days! I just focus on the fact that I'm improving, even if there are no daily points added to my total or advancements. I also periodically reflect back on where I was 1 1/2 years ago when I started and where I am today - and it's quite a change. Finally, when I'm at a concert, musical, play or some other production, I really notice little things that I never heard before - and this always boosts my spirits, regardless of how SoundGym is going for me.

damn .. 2 props, no words? 🥴👈 i must be too hot for soundgym 😮💨 it's time to aim for them billboard charts where real talent get recognized, not side eyed .. some folks hear greatness and get shook, not inspired .. but hey; pressure bust pipes or make diamonds, right? 💎
@Ryan Mayer yo broski, appreciate that fr 🫡 i actually agree with you 💯 the bass definitely could've come up .. i produce/mix and master straight in the cans 'cause my room's big and untreated, so monitors just turn everything into a bass swamp .. real talk, even watching netflix in here sounds like a subwoofer test .. i could reference on other setups but lazy got hands on me 😂 still, your feedback hit right .. respect for actually speaking up with something solid .. much appreciated 👉😎👈
