Hi Ladies and Gents, I've got some mixes of an EP I've been working on. Would like some feedback...is this allowed here or have I missed out on a forum?
Pretty nice overall, but 1 thing heavily confuses me: Your Master. For example in the track "mindset": You got it compressed to a dynamic range of about 7,8 (which is a lot, but is okay for edm), butttttt your LUFs go from -20 to -14 which is a bit low for a "general master" i think. And i tried to push it up to about -10 but then i had the urge to turn down volume quickly again cuz of the vocals mids and i heared a lot of this "flat" compression/limit sound. So either I'm gonna learn something from you about this or you gonna learn from me. So: Why did you do the master this way? :D
Sorry Arthur, I have been tied up in other things the last few days. I'm getting back to this project. Just want to point out that these aren't mastered - ill be handing them over to someone else for that. This is probably to with the fact I mix into a limiter possibly? which is new for me, heard it was useful to some to do so. Certainly in the last stages... I tried for a general idea of what a master will sound like. I need to bring each section a bit close together too, the tracks have a huge volume jumps, not just dynamic jump at this stage. I think there is about a 10dB jump from the quietest part of mindset to the loudest part. So yes some things do need addressing for sure. I usually do this technique but on much less extreme levels. maybe a 1 0r 2db volume jump from verse to chorus.
