Here's my mix of Chad Hollister - Eyes

I just tried to get the mix sounding the best I could, and had fun experimenting with the J37 tape machine for saturation and delay (which features on the horns and vocals).
Obviously, the big challenge here in retaining clarity/use of effects was spill, especially into the vocal and acoustic guitar mic.

I wanted to have a nashville-style bright vocal with slap-back. Hope you guys like it too! :)

yes I liked your creativity on the vocals a lot, they sound very organic and enjoyable with the delay
you succeeded in your challenge which was to retain clarity. I hear clarity in your entire mix.
One small thing, no matter what we do on the instruments and all elements, vocals come first before everything, and I feel like maybe you could raise the up 2db or something like that, to my ears it falls a bit buried behind the instruments.

Everything else, very nice job!

Thanks. I listened on another system, and I agree… I reckon I’ll drop the highs on the lead vocal a touch and bring them up a tiny bit :)

Hey J N, nice one! For me the mix is too wet and the reverb tend to congest a bit the overall sound, especially snare and lead vocal.. ;P

Thanks Domas!
I've done a little revision with the vocal slap down, and the vox up a touch if anyone cares to listen :)

Great mix! I also wanted to do a slap back on the vocal but decided against it due to the excessive bleed from the other instruments. My worry was it would clutter up the mix, but I think you did a good job with it 👍
