Here is my mix of

A sailor once more .. by Glen McPhee

Went for haunting feel on the BVs.

Generally mixed in mono at first

Alot of compression on the Guitar and bass. Stock logic hall reverb used for flute and Bagpipes.. but hopefully not over cooked it !!

All comments welcome .. thank you .
I promise to listen and comment on your mixes this week :-)

Hi Jeremy,

I like it. Good energy and atmosphere. Maybe try and use a de-esser on the reverb for the vox, it gets very sibilant now.

Hello Jeremy. Great mix! I agree with Mark on the de-esser on vocals. I also think that the reverb tail on vocals could be a tad shorter. Beyond that, it may be good lower the bagpipe drone sound a bit.

Hey Jeremy, I agree with the comments above on the sibilants and for me the reverb used on the vocals made them sound a bit muffled.. good mix! ;p

Hey Jeremy, you did a really good job with this one overall, might be the best mix I've heard you do, keep up the practice! The reverb sibilance needs some love, not sure if you know about the de-essing your verb trick, but you want to de-esser before the reverb so it knocks down anything before it hits the reverb. You'll find if you place it after the reverb the sibilants are a lot louder/pronounced.

The bagpipes are very low too. They take over for the lead vocal after it drops out, so it becomes the new feature of the track between the chorus-verses. Try to think about why certain instruments/sounds are introduced into the song and at what point. Well done productions such as this one generally have a lot of intent as to what something brings to a mix so it's good to think about what the most important elements of the song are instead of just pushing faders without purpose.

Keep up the great work, your mixing is improving rapidly!
