BPB - Dirty Filter | Free VST Plugin

bpb dirty filter free vst plugin

This month's free VST plug-in comes from BPB. Dirty Filter is a fun, free tube distortion plugin designed by Bedroom Producers Blog.

With the drive knob set to zero, it works as a transparent filter. However, to get the most out of this plugin, you really need to push that drive a little higher!

The filters themselves are high and low passes with a range between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. They also each have an adjustable slope that can be set to 12, 24, 36, or 48 dB/oct. There is a mix control for dialling that distortion in, as well as the all-important drive control.

The plugin mimics analog tube circuitry, and the distortion it produces is remarkably versatile. BPB themselves describe the plugin as having a range that takes it from 'subtle tube saturation to earth-shattering audio destruction'. Dirty Filter is equally at home adding grit to basslines, synths or vocals.

The combination of distortion and filtering can also be incredibly effective on drums or builds in your track. The distortion has a lovely warm sound to it but can create truly aggressive sounds when you push it.

The video below provides a really nice outline of what can be achieved, showcasing Dirty Filter in action:

BPB Dirty Filter is 32, and 64 bit compatible and is available for Mac or PC in AAX, VST2, VST3 and AU formats. You can download it for free from the Bedroom Producers Blog.
