Klanghelm - IVGI |Free VST Plugin

IVGI saturation & distortion free plugins

IVGI is a saturation and distortion free VST plugin from Berlin developer Klanghelm. They describe it as 'the little brother' of their more full-featured saturation plugin, SDRR.

The base sound of IVGI is similar to SDRR's 'DESK' mode and it can deliver anything from soft, subtle saturation on the master bus, right through to dense, dirty distortion on individual tracks.

The key idea behind IVGI is that it provides characterful and unique modulations to a sound. There are several reasons that the plugin delivers on this. IVGI reacts dynamically to the input signal, with stereo tracks also benefitting from its modelled crosstalk behaviour. In addition, the plugin features 'controlled randomness', which determines the internal drift and variance inside the unit. This means that all internal processes are modulated to some extent, and this contributes to the authentic analog nature of the sound.

The controls are very simple; there are trim, drive, and output controls as you would expect. These are complemented by control for the crosstalk level, and options for changing the nature of the saturation provided by the plugin; rotary 'asymmetric mix' and 'response' controls. The first of these two controls range from symmetric saturation, providing a strong compressing character, up to asymmetric saturation which is more transparent. The response control dictates whether the saturation should be focussed on lower or higher frequencies.

IVGI free VST plugin is available for Mac and PC as a 64-bit plugin. It comes in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats and you can download it from the Klanghelm website for free
