Hey Everyone! I just released a new track! I used Bitwig for the Music and Touchdesigner for the visuals in the YouTube version. It's a pretty awesome program, and syncs really nicely with Ableton and Bitwig. Thanks for listening, and have a beautiful day!

Mixing: Instinct Vs. Reference
When mixing in music, which do you trust more? Your instinct or your references?

🎚️ In the mix, do you lean on your gut feeling or stick to trusted references? Some producers swear by instinct, others won’t mix without A/B’ing.

Where do you fall: instinct or reference?

Let’s hear how the SoundGym Community mix best.
profile
I guess I lean much more toward my instinct. As a teacher once said, you reference all the time while listening to the radio or spotify. The more I mix, the more production details pop up and catch my ear when listening casually. But back to the question, my approach is much more instinct based

instinct. unless I'm looking for a perticular sound or vibe, then reference tracks are great...

I think for me it depends how comparable are the references to the tracks, if I'm working on something that's fairly experimental or not very clearly in a distinct genre it's hard to trust references and I go for instinct
