Two years ago, as a former Abbey Road Institute student, I recorded three demos at Abbey Road Studios. Back then, I was just a beat maker and amateur instrumentalist chasing the footsteps of the greats. I poured everything into those demos, broke conventions, and created something I’m really proud of—yet perfectionism kept it hidden. trying to mix my own music, humbled me. Nothing worked, and I couldn’t understand why my education wasn’t enough. Then it clicked: the missing piece wasn’t knowledge, it was ear training. I trained intensely in 2024, returned again in 2025, and this time something changed. My ears had evolved. Balance, compression, frequencies—finally, it felt natural. The real breakthrough wasn’t technical. It was learning to trust the process—and myself. That growth shaped more than my mixes. And it wouldn’t have happened without SoundGym. Big thanks to sound gym and the community!
Happy New Year to all 😊🎉 Here is my new instrumental track https://hypeddit.com/winab/openthegate A wish and a prayer. May this year Open the Gate of success to all 🙏🏾
Hi, guys, it's 2026 and we definitely need a change in or introduction of new Vocal loops to practice with in EQ Mirror/Peak Master (especially) etc. This shouldn't be a hassle at all but I really hope that you'd take it to heart and give us something FRESH and of good quality we can practice on and enjoy. Vocal loops of different genres would be perfect but even if they are mixed genres - still great. New songs would also be amazing, new live Drum loops and percussions for Compressionist and I believe it'd be AWESOME if you introduce Synths for Compressionist, we can practice compressing plucks and more attacky type of synth sounds there too. Those 3 things are really needed and I mean no disrespect, only the best for the community!
Thanks, Ross! I'm doing my best. I'm not that good on Boost and Cut Champ, though. I guess I'm more of a marathoner than a sprinter. As for the tries, I do 4-8 not in a day, but the whole duration of the contest. EQ Ace is certainly not as monotonous, for exactly the reasons you've mentioned!
What you're saying makes a lot of sense. I also went to look how many people in general participate and while it's usually a lower number than boost or cut, it's not that significant (40-60). So it seems you are on target - even though the number of people playing is not significantly lower, it means the number of times one person plays the game is much lower. I've also found myself pulled into economics of this - if on the 1st play I reach 6-10th place, and 4% pot is around 18 coins, then it doesn't make sense to play more than 4 times :D
I like this exercise/game a lot! Maybe it's a good one precisely to train our patience and resilience. =P I appreciate a lot how the difficulty level gradually increases. But, as I mentioned here before, and suggested the SoundGym team, I find it could be more rewarding to our skills if it's speed increase would be more gradual than it is, in particular after 80-90 points. I believe it's a game where a decent pair of headphones with proper soundstage imaging could make a difference on achieving higher scores. It could be frustrating playing it with one's that don't give a wider soundstage like most in-ears and most closed-back headphones (there are very good exceptions though!). As a non-Pro user, the Space Pan and Cut Champ give myself an opportunity to practice on different exercises from the standard 3 I'm limited to in the Daily Workout.
