hi guys im having a hard time with stereohead and im stuck at level 8. i know what i need to be listening out for (like hollowness towards 0.75-0.99 and singularity toward 0) but when i first start the game i can never seem to get it right and i can only get it right when i have a reference, like if i know the round before that was 0.4 i could guess 0.6 pretty easily but i wouldnt be able to guess either in isolation. any tips?

Hi Rachel! In this exercise it is absolutely vital that your monitoring setup isn't throwing you off as it requires you to hear detailed panning (similar to PanGirl).

For me these types of games are very visual. If you sit with a particular setting for long enough you can soon start too see where the sounds are coming from. That way you can really get specific when choosing what to answer. Of course, the easier ones are the extremes (0 or close to it where it only sounds like 1 sound as they lay on top of each other, 1 or close to it where it literally sounds like each of the two sounds come straight out of each of the left and right monitors).

Everything in between is the real challenge and it can sometime sound like different panning settings are playing at the same time. If this is the case just sit with it for a while and make sure to listen for the sound with the strongest presence over time.

I would also recommend alternating between listening only to the RIGHT sound before switching to listening to both simultaneously only to then switch AGAIN and only listen to the LEFT sound. This way it's much easier getting that picture in your head of where they are situated in the stereo spectrum.

Hope this helps! Good luck! =)

Also, avoid trying to do this game on headphones. I don't know if it possible to run the audio from Soundgym through something like a studio simulator or DearVR but otherwise do it on actual speakers if available.

I am in a similar boat for this game as well. Not stuck, yet, but I usually get that first one wrong and then can dial in based on relative position from there.

On an unrelated note EqCheetah is pure evil.

+1 for @Joshua Higgins - once i switched from headphones to monitors, it was much clearer and you know where the boundaries are for estimating the percentages. Some audio sources are easier than others as well. Once you find a source that helps you succeed, try repeating the level with another source before moving on. I also admit that it takes an additional round to adjust to the number conversion and I almost always do better on the later rounds. One other tip is to try different volume levels to match the level that you typically use for production.
Congrats @Michael Berenbaum for winning the Golden Ears Award!

Hello everyone. I'm currently trying to progress in Reverb Wizard. I'm faced with the fact that I can't calmly hear the reverb in the guitar. It's easy enough when there are pauses. The tail is clearly audible in the pauses. At the same time, it is not clear what to listen to when there are no pauses. Which aspects should I pay attention to first?
