Music Spot: Fuji Gateway - Tuesdays, Am I Right?
From time to time, we shine the spotlight on a SoundGym member by reviewing one of their releases for our Music Spot feature.

This time around we are checking out @Steven Applegate recent single under his Fuji Gateway moniker; ‘Tuesdays, Am I Right?’.

Check it out: https://www.soundgym.co/blog/item?id=fuji-gateway

Thanks for the shout out!
I am doing pretty well with soundgym overall. Getting better consistently in most areas. However, stereo image appears to be a total blind spot for me. I simply can't hear it and often get it completely wrong. Like I genuinely have no inkling and am simply guessing. And I have not improved in this regard at all. In other areas my hearing seems quite sophisticated though (silver ears, 85% percentile overall).

Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? And, since others have asked - yes I am using headphones.

Make sure your computer sound and browser are set to stereo, and that your headphones are stereo.

i struggled a long time with this too. Until i switched back to monitors.
I got the tip here to close my eyes and try to imagine the head/guitar/sound source to the left or the right of the center.
Once i did these things, i increased in lvl in no time.

Thanks all - I will give it a go with monitors as well. I had thought that it would definitely be easier with headphones but maybe not for this one.

Hi guys and girls. I have a very naive and stupid question. After uploading a song to soundcloud I received a follower obviously a bot and several invitations most probably by bots making compliments an then asking me to click the link... Any way to get rid of that? Report or what do you do about that? Ignore?

Respectful request
Dear Soundgym

I have been studying with you for several years and I thank you for everything you have allowed me to learn. However, I think there is something you have been stuck on and it is vitally important for those of us who are interested in producing music, and that is COMPRESSOR exercises.
I have not been able to understand the dynamics of any exercise, the sounds are uncomfortable and so far I think I have not learned enough compared to the other exercises.

Please, it's time to improve that

Hey guys! Does anyone have any tips for Dr. Compressor??? I can't get past the 1st level even though on every other game I have completed multiple levels. Any tips on hearing compression better? Thank you!

Although good monitors, etc, are nice, I (mostly) use old iPhone earbuds and do just fine.

The best advice I got for making progress when I was struggling with this in the beginning is to listen for the volume difference between the kick and the snare. Try it. The more compressed example will have them more equal in volume. Once somebody on here pointed that out to me, I passed through several levels without a single error in no time.

Apart from that, slowly but surely, I have felt my feel for attack and release times get much better. I think that just takes time.
Congrats @Hannes Fritsch for winning the Golden Ears Award!

Guitar Gym
Hi! Does anyone know what is going on with GuitarGym? I created an account, but the Dashboard, Gym or Café never worked for me-it always telling me the website routing to wrong places. I am super interested in self-training my Guitar in GuitarGym. Please tell me what is going on with it! The wired thing is that I do not even see a discount coupon you can use purchasing by soundcoins, I assume we could redeem a coupon for GuitarGym for unlocking the full thing, cuz that was what I did by purchasing my ToneGym. Thanks!
Hey dears,
take a look
https://www.udio.com/
Do you still want to produce music ? I have some doubts
Cheers

I wouldn't notice it's an AI music, but the sound work is terrible. Unlike the music theory, which is basically an exact science defined by rules, the sound engineering is very abstract and still be a challenge for machines to do it right. Especially now in the overcrowded music production environment where the good sound is necessary to stand out. And even after that, it'll never kill those, who don't make it for money but for the fun :)

@Cindy B You are correct. The only music that will be made by real musicians will be those who make music as a hobby, or those who make really weird and original music. Making commercial music for a living won't be a thing anymore, but we can definitely still enjoy it as a hobby! Or maybe more people will get bored of hearing the same commercial music that they've heard for 20 years and instead start seeking out weird and original stuff? That would be my dream, but I fear that it is just a dream. Still, at least there will always be places like Soundgym where hobbyists can hang out and learn and share and have fun.

Seriously, is there anything on that platform that you enjoy listening to? For more than a few seconds? Even the best examples are generic gunk. And honestly, I don't care how generic gunk is produced. Now it's mostly done by humans, and in the future it will be done by machines. So what? I neither want to make this kind of stuff nor listen to it.
On the other hand: I'm pretty sure some truly creative people will start using these tools in a creative way. I'm totally looking forward to that.
