Felix West – No Sleep

Each month we shine the spotlight on one SoundGym member by reviewing one of their tracks for our Music Spot feature. This month we focus on 'No Sleep' by Felix West.

West is an up-and-coming producer from Cologne in Germany who only released his debut single, 'All In My Head' back in June of this year. He quickly followed this up with 'No Sleep', which is a surprisingly assured track for an artist so early in his career. West has dabbled in a variety of styles and tempos, experimenting with Trap and Drum and Bass , but 'No Sleep' is unashamed big-room house.

The track is built around the classic 'big night out' lyric, 'we don't need no sleep because the party don't stop'. It's not subtle but it gets the message across - this is dancefloor music. The production is crisp, defined and punchy. Experimenting with bass music has done the producer no harm when it comes to the processing of the bottom end of 'No Sleep' – the sub here is tightly controlled but hits hard. West has a way with melody too; the insistent hook is lodged firmly in your memory before the track is even half way through. This is impressive stuff from a producer so new on the scene.

If you want to hear more from this promising artist, then you can keep across what he does on Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, Instagram and on his website. 'No Sleep' is out now.
