MOÜGLI - Caminito

Each month we shine the spotlight on one SoundGym member by reviewing one of their tracks for our Music Spot feature. This month we focus on 'Caminito' by MOÜGLI, a band founded by SoundGym member, Samuel Lizarralde.

Lizarralde is a native of Bogotá, Colombia and has worked on an impressive range of projects. He has produced work for clients such as Netflix and Warner, and has scored multiple short films, movies and TV series. In 2016, he formed MOÜGLI with Juan Pablo Delgado; the aim of the project was to fuse organic sounds with current electronic trends.

'Caminito' sees them blend elements of tropical house with something much more distinctive to create a sound of their own. South American percussion and a languid, melodic vocal give this track a heady atmosphere. Sound design elements swirl in the background, creating a woozy and dense sonic texture, while that all-important rhythm section retains a distinct clarity and power.

The overall result is that the track is understated, almost relaxing, while maintaining a serious dancefloor punch.

Head on over to Samuel Lizarralde's Soundcloud to hear a wide selection of tunes he has been involved in, including some more of his work with MOÜGLI. You can also follow him on Instagram, or learn more about him on his official website. If you want to hear more by MOÜGLI, the best place to do so is on their official YouTube channel.
