I suspect that from a certain level and upwards the rise in SPI per level is stabilized, so it doesn't diminish further. I least that's how it seems to me on the games that I'm on a very high level. Likewise for the difficulty: it reaches a halt from a level and upwards.

As already mentioned, whether you finish the game with all 3 lives intact or not, makes a difference to the final score. So yes, you can pass a level and see no effect in your top 3 scores. That's probably because you completed the current level with only one life left and that wasn't the case when you got any of your top 3 scores.

Fun fact, EQ Mirror (and maybe Balance Memory) is an exception. If you finish the game having lost one life (so you played 6 stages instead of 5) you will earn more than doing a flawless game. My go-to method for EQ Mirror is scoring always above 75% to be in the green area (more points), losing intentionally on stage 5, and re-doing stages 4 and 5. This gives the maximum of points and it's the only way to surpass my previously 1st position which was obtained using the same method. Also, the score is not different if your correct answer is for example 80% as opposed to 90%. Each correct answer on a specific level has two possible values: one for being above the red area but below the green, and one for being in the green area.

Another obvious exception is EQ Cheetah, since for every extra correct answer above the required 25 you get substantially more points. My highest score at my current level of difficulty is 37 correct answers. This means that I can pass 100 levels, with 25 correct answers each time, and I still won't beat my top score. This ludicrous phenomenon is only possible in EQ Cheetah because it's limited only by time (60 secs) and not by the number of correct answers.

By the way, from a point on, it's almost impossible to get a correct answer in EQ Mirror and not be in the green area. 😅
