SoundGym Hero: Steve Rinaldi

Trombonist, physicist, and recording engineer with a soft spot for capturing live ensembles, Steve Rinaldi never set out to be an audio engineer, just a chance childhood lesson on a neighbor's trombone, decades split between the bandstand and a career steering quantum computing programs, and a growing collection of microphones pointed at concert halls, before discovering that the ear, like a laser, can be trained. @Steve Rinaldi is this month's SoundGym Hero!

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words! This honor was quite a surprise, to say the very least. Stelios, if I'm not playing the horn, you'll find me on the trails in the nearby mountains. Cuantas, life is most certainly not boring here (almost too much going on!). Carolyn, one of my big motivations is giving back to the community, and I've focused a bunch of energy on that desire. Mike B, many thanks as always! Socky, oddly enough, many of the theoretical physicists I worked with at Sandia National Laboratories played trombone - something I was almost tempted to do a survey on. John, I could only wish to see Chicago as many times as you, and Rush' Moving Pictures tour back in the 70's was nothing short of awesome. Mike M, thanks - and I'm sure I'm not the only TRE member to receive this honor.
