I am really struggling to hear any difference btw 2:1 and 8:1 ratio in The Compressionist game , esp with that stupid djembe 🤦🏽♂️ ; does anyone have any words of wisdom for what exactly to listen for? TY
I actually avoid using the percussion setting. I hate listening to those super boomy djembes as well.
In general, when I'm listening for how extreme the compression is, I'm listening for how loud, washy, or sizzly the hats and cymbals are (when the attack is slow) or how thwacky the snare or kick are (when the attack is fast).
TY Matt; glad I'm not the only one. Attack time I am actually getting the knack of ; I hear the spikiness of the transient with slower attack, in that the notes are sharper and punchier somehow , vs. smoother (warmer / fatter?) and more rounded off with faster attack
Maybe I'll try with other sounds and see if the ratios become more obvious, because I literally can't hear a difference right now with that particular instrument.
