Diyagaskai - Lazy Slow

Each month we shine the spotlight on one SoundGym member by reviewing one of their tracks for our Music Spot feature. This month we focus on @Victoria Diyagaskai, and her track 'Lazy Slow'.

Diyagaskai is originally from Mariupol in Ukraine, but moved first to Toronto, and now to London in pursuit of a career in music. She is a singer, who also graduated as a pianist from music school. In 2015 she began to seriously start honing her skills as a producer as well, and you can hear the results in her track 'Lazy Slow'; a song that she composed, performed, arranged, recorded, mixed and mastered.

Coming in at over seven minutes, the track is a real slow-burner that brings to mind acts such as Goldfrapp. Gently undulating and stuttering beats pin down a rolling bass line. In a nod to Diyagaskai's roots, there is an Eastern European feel to both the melody and some of the instrumentation.  The same riff underpins the majority of the track, but Diyagaskai shows her production chops by dropping elements in and out, and adding spot FX throughout the mix to hold listener attention. The result is a swirling and dense concoction of sound.

You can hear the track on Spotify and iTunes. If you want to hear more, check out Diyagaskai's Soundcloud page where there is plenty more material. You can also follow what she is doing on Facebook, Instagram, Bandcamp, and Twitter.
