Hello Saas,
This is perfectly normal if you’ve never trained like this before and you’ll start getting it soon enough with some practise. Similarly to ”traditional ear training” where you learn to recognize musical intervals, it might at first seem like impossible dark magic, but once your brain cracks it you cannot un-hear them.

This video might help you a lot (it has certainly helped many), especially with the 250-8000 area, if you learn to hear those the areas as vowel sounds. The very lowest ranges below 200 and above 10k are typically the most difficult and depend also on the quality of your monitoring gear (especially the low-end).

I would like to add that is also depends on the quality of the sounds in soundgym. There are some sound that are easier for eq mirror, and others that are easier for filter for example. I was fighting a long time with some exercises, until I found the right sounds to listen. Pinknoise for EQ mirror, Drums for kit cut in my case.

Then after, the other sounds become more easy as well.

Hi everyone, I just released a new track today! It's pretty psychedelic and incorporates some organic sounds with some weird electronic sounds. Thanks so much for listening!

Since everyone is a music nerd here, I'll mention that I created the music in Bitwig and the visuals (Artwork and if you see the YouTube video) were created in Touchdesigner, which syncs really nicely with Ableton and Bitwig.

Morning DAW Ritual: Tweak or Start Fresh?
When you open your DAW in the morning, do you: tweak yesterday’s mix or start a new one?

☀️ Fresh start or fine-tuning? When you fire up your DAW in the morning, do you dive right back into yesterday’s mix or chase a brand-new idea?

Every producer has their rhythm, what’s yours?
Congrats @Adrian Davenport for winning the Golden Ears Award!
