Hello Everyone, recently I uploaded a Beat on my YT channel and I realized while listening to it on my Apple EarPhones, that during the section with the sub bass and the halftimed drums I hear a sort of crackling in the background. Is that related to my Mix or my EarPhones? I really would like to receive a clear answer of what that could be, because sometimes these things destroy my creativity. Thanks in advance for the eventual answears!! (Forgot to say that I EQed my Drums a little to make them not clash with the Sub Bass)

actually, I only hear it every time there is the section with the halftimed drums and the sub bass. Otherwise I don't hear it in other sections of the track

It has happened to me when I have too much low end in my mix. The monitors can handle it but once I try it on my phone or some other system with tiny drivers, they can develop a sort of crackle distortion because the little speaker just can't hang with a bunch of content below 100hz or so. It is possible you have a dip somewhere in your monitoring environment that is causing you to add too much low end, have you measured it?

Provide a link to your track and I'll try to figure out what's the issue !
EQ Cuts - I feel I just A/B and listen for what was boosted as I turn it off so I'm not sure I'm learning how to hear cuts on their own. Any tips from the guys that have been doing this for a while for how to get better at hearing cuts without gaming it by A/Bing so you're really just hearing the boost in reverse?

Instead of thinking about it as a way of trying to identify cuts, I think of it as training your referencing ability. You can find what frequencies you're missing compared to your reference fairly quickly that way.

So I'd say don't worry about seeing the A/B as cheating, because every track is different and what's considered a cut in one track might be considered a boost in another.

Anyways, I hope that's helpful!

Hi, I'm trying to practice for the Beatrice on my own however there is no sound to reference or to try and match a beat. When I go to my normal workouts there is sound, only BeatRace practice doesn't give me any sound. Double check that I do have sound on in the game/practice area so what is the next step ?

Yes this shows, I have a little less time actually on my game. The volume to the right bottom is on 100, all this shows and I can also switch between original and recreate... only no sound no matter what I do.
Congrats @Jindřich Vala for winning the Golden Ears Award!

Thanks everyone! I've been shooting for this for a while, but honestly... I'm kind of underwhelmed. There are still many days where it seems like I'm getting everything wrong. And, while I am definitely confident in my ears at this point, I don't feel as secure in my ability as I thought I would.

Just some thoughts. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
Congrats @Marzon DJ for winning the Golden Ears Award!
