Congratulations Chris!
Hey guys! I want to play fair and tell you about a bug. Basically, I found out on my first day here. If you go to the 'Earn More Soundcoins' page and haven't join any spaces, it gives you the opportunity to get 20 Soundcoins. If you join and then leave the spaces, you can do it again, and again, and again, and again. This therefore gives you infinite Soundcoins.

Don't worry, I submitted a ticket with Soundgym :¬)

It is clearly written in the championship rules that cheaters will get banned. You might get banned from the championship for good, and besides that, what's the point of winning like this if your skills are not up to par? The main purpose of this site is to learn and improve; that's just my opinion.

@James V. I completely agree with you, James. Not only is it clearly prohibited by the contest rules and also TOS, it's in no way beneficial for one's ear training and practices and obviously low in moral.

I am well aware of the consequences and by far means have no intentions to risk restrictions, exclusion from any contests or a ban nor unrightfully appropriate any awards, scoreboard positions or store purchases without legitimately earning and or deserving them.

It is true that a portion of my coins was generated with the method I discovered at the beginning of this month. And before I recommended Bob to publish this information and address it to support, I, too, tested this exploit a few times while recording it as to confirm and demonstrate it in a support ticket submitted by me.

Aside from the small amount of coins I got due to me testing Bobs discovery I did not make use of this nor will I, out of respect for other contestants and fairness.
I did not check myself if it hasn't been changed, as I restrain from attempting any manipulations or frauds, further more
do I not want any more duped coins or scores in my account.

Support has been informed and if they decide to remove any coins or points in the championship that I acquired unrightfully, they are more than welcome to do so as I, again, don't have any interest in winning with fraud and gladly give it to those who worked hard and earned more with their longer, better trained ears and skills.

Nonetheless, my opinion is that these loopholes in the system, as they always and anywhere could be discovered, explaining and sharing it with everyone along with contacting admins or support and not kept secret.

I'm going to be honest here. I had no intentions to win the championship. Furthermore, I wasn't even aware of the championship until my 5th day on this platform. The only reason I found and used this exploit was to buy fake gear for the digital studio. I certainly don't mind if all of my Soundcoins were to be reset, including my studio purchases from the Soundcoins Store. I only used this exploit for fun.

Hello everyone!
Can you please tell me what's your workout routine in Sound Gym?
Do you do only engeneering part or do you also do Beatrace part? How much time it takes for you do go through whole routine?
For now I'm only doing main part of sound gym and takes me about 25-30 minutes to complete the routine.
Just for you to know - I'm a sound producer, sound designer and audio engeneer and it's sometimes really hard to wear all this hats at the same time.

I typically do the daily workout in like 5 minutes. I just don't take my time on it like I should. my spi is 360,000. Sometimes I'll do about half an hour of practice of whatever exercises I feel or think I need improving on. A really important thing I learned was not to play these as games, but to actually learn from them so I can apply them to my mixing. Hope this helps.

I used to do about 30min to an hour. Then the levels got harder and I got a bit obsessive about needing to pass them, so it would take longer and I'd do about 1hr-2hrs first thing in the morning.

Sometimes I'd also do a shorter workout in the eve - more recently maybe the Olympics or EQ training competition. Or just a selective few games that I want to improve on. I used to do lots of extra rounds of EQ cheetah, peak master, kit cut, bass detective, and feedback eliminator.

I didn't do the Beatrace stuff for the first month of my membership - didn't even realize they had games or you could collect coins from them. I started doing that more so for fun and the coins.

Practically the Beatrace component isn't what I personally got SoundGym for. I don't have that hard of a time creating beats or recreating beats when I need to in daily life - I also play drums so that helps (and I don't see the necessity of being 100% accurate - i.e. if you miss a hihat that's layered with a snare and clap in 45 sec isn't a big deal). But it is fun!

Identifying tempo is useful... I guess, but I have a tempo tap app on my phone (which I don't use for the game as that'd be cheating i.m.o.), so it doesn't benefit me hugely to be able to identify tempos accurately by ear. Technology can easily assist me with that. Likewise with swing. I know when something has swing, and I can adjust the swing when I want some on my track and see what feels good. Never have I had to identify accurate swing values from listening.

So that's how I answer the question for myself - I do the beatrace stuff for fun and coins at the end of my workout, but I don't really care that much about it. But that's me - someone else may benefit greatly from that part, might even really help someone how to construct their own beats if they're not as familiar with it.

Main soundgym stuff however is super useful to me. Especially the EQ games. Been a game changer. The compression games I didn't expect to be as useful, but they have. So have the reverb games, which I expect the least. The panning and stereohead stuff has helped me hear panning more automatically when listening to reference mixes - rather than having to actively pay attention, it just pops out to my awareness more readily, which is useful.

So all that to say is, like Almog pointed out, focus on what helps you learn so you can apply it to your mixing - and only you will be able to know what aspects you want to develop more, and what will benefit you the most. If you need to identify tempos on the spot, maybe that'll help you more. If you want to get better at hearing beats and recreating that, then spend more time in Beatrace. If you feel that this area is something you can do just fine in, but hearing EQ better will help you, then do the EQ games more

Thank you for all replies! It's really helpful to know someone's approach to this website. I've just cought myself thinking that if I'll be really good at each game here I'll instantly become an amazing producer and mixing engeneer.

Awesome!
Hi y'all. I had a lightbulb moment regarding compressionist that I'd like to share. This may be obvious to some, and it totally makes sense now. When you are comparing the two recordings, like drum kit, there will be a few elements of the sound. For example, kick drum and cymbals. Choose one element of the sound to match the volume to the example recording. So, for example, match the volume of the cymbals exactly. It may be a subtle difference. Then, you can compare the other elements and figure out on which settings they are louder or the same.

I knew that compression evens out the loudness over the sound, but until you choose one part of the sound and match them as closely as possible, it's hard to hear the difference.

Totally! (: this has been my approach as well. You can't hear differences very clearly until they are gain/volume matched - and if all the parts don't sound at the same level when you match volumes, then that's the clue that it's a different setting. Oftentimes when I listen to different setting options I have to adjust the volume over and over again each time to make sure it matches levels in order to compare what sounds different. Just can't tell very well if the levels aren't the same.

Higher compression settings usually bring out more of the background sounds - room tones, reverbs etc. Though the longer attacks will delay the onset of the room tones/reverbs/drum ringouts etc and emphasize more of that initial transient. Whereas the shorter attack settings will make everything sound bigger and more spacious, with less of an upfront transient, and distort at the most extreme settings.

When listening for release times it's a similar thing - i.e. how quickly the reverbs/ring-outs/room tones come up after the initial drum hit.

Cheers! (:

I do however long it takes to beat my previous record. I dont have to beat the level, just my 1rst place score on every game. Some days are short, some days take practice
