Hey all! After years of tinkering with Ableton I decided I needed to truly understand mixing, so I started a music production course and it's been amazing, so many puzzle pieces falling into place.
Now, my girlfriend challenged me to remix a song she sent and this is the result. I would love some feedback on; - The mix in general - If there are transitions that could use more work - If the arrangement is not too fragmented
I really like the arrangement of this mix. The energy control is crucial, and I feel like you've got a good flow in this. In terms of the mix itself, it feels a little crowded at some of the higher activity parts of the remix. The vocals seem to fight for presence against some of the other components of the song (which should be very easily fixed with EQ). This seems particularly prevalent against the bass. I also notice this interesting fluttering effect during the drops. I would imagine that a slight reconfiguration or addition of sidechaining could create space for more sonic balance.
Hope this interpretation and feedback is helpful. Great work!
Thanks for listening and the feedback! Great to hear the energy control feels good. Crowdy mixes are my weak-point for sure, last and coming class we are focusing on EQ’ing though, so I’ll take your feedback with me while revisiting the topic and applying it.
In other tracks I also often get the feedback that too many things are fighting for their spot. I need to train my ears to recognize that more properly.
Bro bass is overpowering everything, everything else is good. I am also learning here so accept this as a gentle suggestion.
