Hello Fellas! I'll be needing your feedback on a song I've mixed (not my own song). The song is called Eternal Eyes by John Demena and the tracks were downloaded from promixacademy.com. I would to know your thoughts regarding the general mix. The critiques here are very valuable and I became very much conscious of the things I may have overlooked on my previous project. I would like to thank you all in advance. Cheers! :)
Sounds good to me - although I'm getting a load of rumble which is off putting at 3:44 from the bass? Do you hear that too? Maybe around 100-200 Hz region.
Sound good! Very good records and performances. Very good resources to work on. I think vocal should be closer the listener. You can try to reduce reverb on vocal also you can try more compress it. Also comparing with bass, kick is a little bit weak for my taste. It can be stronger. Nice work!
@Lirkazof Rap , thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I was referencing Alice in Chains tracks on the vocals and it looks like I may have overdone it. Cheers! :)
Very good, clean sound! There's not much to critisize to me. At least 2 things coming to my mind. First I agree with @Lirkazof Rap. You could bring the vocals more upfront with decent compression and maybe try adding an exciter on the master to add a bit of sparkle.
There is a frequency buildup in the mid-range with the guitars and the vocal. I think the bass could use a bit more bottom. I'd love more automation on volumes at different sections.
Sounds good! Most obvious thing in my opinion is there could be more automations between chorus and verses, the chorus lacks a bit of punch. Some frequencies in the mid range of the voice aren't so well defined, because of guitars and effects I think. The reverb on the voice could be a bit more precise, maybe panning it or a longer pre delay. And bass is a bit loud to my taste, but maybe a lil bit equalizing would do the job too.
Mix is pretty solid. Levels are decent. That being said I feel the vocal could use some work. You've put a lot of reverb on it, so it's in the back of the mix. I would dial down the reverb and push it up in volume more. Something I like to do on my reverb these days is sidechain them to signal of whatever I'm sending to them. It separates the two and allows the signal to retain more presence. I also wish the kick was better. I think you could maybe replace the sample. Right now the bass is louder than the kick. I would like the relationship to be a little more even. Good luck!
Thank you @Timothée De Backer and @Thando Beschta for the feedback. I will keep what you both said in mind. Yeah, I agree that I have overdid the reverb / effects on the vocals, and I should have controlled the low end more. I'm really glad to have learned a lot from the session and from everyone's feedback. Cheers!
2 props
