Hey everyone! I tried my hand at a grimy, distorted, lofi type track. It was a new challenge for me to intentionally make things dirty without things getting too out of control and ear fatiguing. Would be curious to hear peoples comments/critiques. Thanks!

Those were basically my own personal notes as well after coming back and listening. The track definitely presented some challenges which I maybe should have addressed in the arrangement. Nothing to do but take these lessons onto the next one! Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Good call on the transient shapers. Been turned onto them recently and used them to tame some nasty sitar transients on my latest track. Which plugins do you like for transient shaping? I've been using the one from Izotope Neutron. It has multiple eq bands which was nice because I could tame the high freq harshness but still get that low end punch. Hope the new year is treating you well!

Hey man! I'm hearing a little too much high-end for a lo-fi track. To me, lo-fi almost always sounds duller (in a good way). I'd put a high-shelf beginning at 6k or 8k. I'd also check if a high-pass filter at 12k does the job. Nice track by the way!!!

@Joey Sabat Ya I agree that if I wanted it to be a "classic" lo-fi track I should have cut some of the highs for sure. Honestly was just kinda flying by the seat of my pants with this one and seeing what came out haha. Thanks for giving it a listen!
@Tobias Lütge Nice. I've never heard of Schaak but will have to check them out. Definitely have a lot of respect for companies that keep plugins affordable. I happened to pick up SPL's transient shaper for super cheap in a Plugin Alliance sale + a monthly voucher and it is also a great tool.
