Greetings Mix Critiques, This is a Hip-hop track I'm currently working on... I would love to get your perspective on the production and mix/mastering of the track. I think the song sounds good but it can definitely get better. The track is in Kiswahili language for those who would like to know. Thanks guys!
@Kérim S Thanks a lot bro! About the dry drums haha! Please refer me to a song or sample that has nicely {reverb}/spaced drums so that I clearly hear the difference. This will help a lot. Cheers!
Sounds clean! I really like the bass. Fire :D I noticed some volume changes of the vocals in Part 2 (e.g. on 2m 25s) For my taste, they could be a bit more stable so they dont get lost in the beat :)
Aye @Leon Klampfer Many thanks! I had to process each of the main verses separately...I think grouping them into one track and compressing them subtly should control it a bit more...what do you think??
Really like this. Not much to say tbh - vocals a bit loud for me and has a bit to much top end, personally and the piano is wooly and needs some bottom end cut out and some top added / saturation or something to cut through a bit better. Great though
Did you create the track? or are you just engineering the sound? The first rapper should come in at a better transition. I like :15 sec transition. Also the first rapper is spitting too long, need to get the 1st hook in sooner, I don't hear it until 1:26. The hook vibes(hot) I would fade out with the hook also, it will glue the feel of the track.
Greetings @Blax Magoo I appreciate you taking the time to listen to the track and helping me along the way. Yes I did produce the track as well on Ableton. The mix/mastering part is where I've had to reach out to the community here to get a different perspective. In verse 1, I also felt like he might be rapping for too long and thought about it...Then decided to switch up the drum pattern a bit more in his verse to spice it up...Thanks for the ideas on the chorus!!
@Daragh Thomas What's up bro? Thanks for the feedback. You're on point in regards to what you've highlighted. What is your best way of adding reverb/ space to drums??
