here's my mix of Selwyn Jazz - Much too much

https://drive.google.com/file/d/16oT1-61ymn2jGtX0CuMU9iWGwkVojEO4/view?usp=sharing

It was a great song. Fun to work on this extensive horn section. It was a great challenge.

Thanks a lot for listening and shatin your thoughts with me.

Hey Sherman, nice one, very smooth! The vocal is a bit loud and there's a bit low-mid congestion ;P

Hi Sherman,
nice mix. Your brass panning is OK, but I would say a little unusual. You have paired some trumpets and saxes on the same place, some are left, some pairs are right. But there are many panning systems for big bands on the market :) For me it's too much reverb and a very long reverb time on the voice (with someping pong delay effects). If you have the chance to hear some big band songs Al Schmitt mixed, it's really dry. Overall a good mix with nice balances.

Hi Sherman, nice work! Yes, it is a little too wet for my liking, but that might come down to preference. It was pleasant to listen to overall, but I'd consider to use the other vocal track, which I think was the better recording.

I hear what Daniel R is saying about wet. So, I am working with a band right now that gave The War on Drugs as a ref. The vocal is verb laden and delay as well kinda a ping pong delay and ducked well. This is teaching me alot about getting the effects out of the way of the primary melody. It's another fine art. wish me luck!!!
