Hi everyone, just finished mixing the Song One Minute Smile. I tried to archieve a modern mixing style, definitely has been easier to mix for me than the previous song. Give it a listen and feel free to leave a comment.
Hi Christoph. Good mix. I think lead vox is a bit buried into guitars, maybe us a matter of space in the frecuency range or maybe a matter of level. The snarer is a bit loud to my ears.
Christoph... I like the bass, not the snare. In my personal opinion you need more high frequencies... The kick is near to what I like... I like a lot the Travis Barker Kick... for snare I like AcDc Snare... this one it seems the Metallica's St.Anger snare, for me one of thre worst snare in rock history - try to cut off high frequencies with EQ. All the song is not bad... but, do not forget this has to be energy,, I think you loose something.. I am not a technician... I love music, I love Punk, rock, metal, I try to feel the song... This band is not bad... they remenber me Blink 182, we MUST give them what they have to get. The energy.
Nesor B, i thought about the lead vox in a similar direction, but i guess i could have figuered that out by having a reference Track wich in this case, i could not think of one that is similar to this tracks...
i liked it, but I feel like you are not taking advantage of the side, the snare is dry and on the center as also are the crashes, you colud try to aply some reverb on the drums in general and then equalize it so that you can take out some of the low end of it , then you can aply an stereo enhaser and take the reverb to the sides that way you will have the punchier part of the drums in the mid and all the room on the sides with the guitars that are really wide open.
Hey Christopher, I think your mix is sounding pretty awesome. For my taste, the snare could be a little wetter and the vocal a pinch louder, but all up, pretty great!
It's a place where ones who want to improve their mixing skills can join their forces with an aim to make the process less boring and more productive
