It was a nice song to mix, I liked the overall atmosphere and for this track I tried to keep the things as natural as possible, trying to rely only on the given tracks (no trigger and not too much modulation on the effects that I used).. I’m not a fan of the drum kit but as I said, I decided to focus on other things ;P
Hi Magghy, nice mix. For me, the snare hits are a bit harsh, especially at their entrance and personally I would like the bass a bit more prominent when it come in, but it does seem then to sit more comfortably later in the song. However, that's all based on personal preference, nothing 'spoils' the mix. Also, nice smooth transition from the mono to stereo feel after the single acoustic and vocal at the start - I really didn't achieve that!!
Hi Maggy! I find the intro guitar a bit boomy, and the reverb sounds slightly distorted. I’m not sure if that was intentional or maybe just an upload issue... Could you check it and let me know? I’ve noticed this a couple of times with your mixes, so I guess it might be something related to the upload platform or something similar.
I really like the way you mixed the vocals, very easy on the ear, pleasant to listen to. Nothing specific that stood out to me besides the snare rim, maybe it is a bit too loud when it comes in but later it falls into the mix nicely I think. I saw @Maurice Robinson comment about the bass. I can see where the comment comes from, it´s very up to taste. To me it sounds nice for example, it gives this laid back porch sitting vibration.
Hey there! I love your kick & am jealous of it :D I'm typically a big fan of the modulation fx, but the tail on the flange sounds a bit much to me (think that's what I'm hearing). I do think it's adding some nice depth and movement, so maybe a bunch of automation not necessarily warranted for a weekly practice mix might do the trick to tuck those tails :D Nice work!
Hey Magghy. Mixcube feedback today. Acoustic guitar on intro sounds a little dark and boomy. Vocals sounds stellar and the space is good. Drums are really good, much like the band's master. Bass comes through on the mids, but i think could use a little more top end - it is kind of washing around in the low mids. I would prefer bolder panning on the electric guitars. Solid mix. Jason's ears are better than mine because I didn't notice the modulation fx.
@Ron Allen again I agree with you 😂 the guitar sonds a bit muddy and covered by a bed sheet so it might need a bit of cut from that rumble and maybe some brightness :)) vocal sounds good :) although I would also give it some air :) and maybe the bongos are a bit distracting :))
Thank you all guys! @Santi Rod, I think it could be something related to mega, the service I use to upload the mix, because another guy here told me my mixes sounded a bit shifted in pitch listening through the link I provided while sounding good on the comparison.. so, yep, I think I have to try something different ;P
Hey Magghy ! Nice one ! I @Ron Allen and @Adrián Quiroz , the mix does sound like covered by a blanket. You may very well be right in saying that Mega can be distorting the sound. Maybe if you re-post from Soundcloud or some other music oriented sharing service... (vox is really cool btw)
I like the way you processed the vocal and background vocals. For me, the beginning is really nice with the guitar and vocal, but when the drums kick in, that feels like a big step in volume. The sound of the rim-click is really nice too! I found it hard to get that processed nicely, so great job!
Hi Magghy, Great mix! The bass is too far back for my taste. The stick snare is overwhelming the vocals, something I also did in my mix. The vocals and BKG sound great tho.
1 props
