Happy Sunday, Y'all!

Here's my mix for this week. I tried to follow the original reference track for panning and arrangements. I struggled at first getting a drum sound that worked for me. Eventually, I found a way to use the front mic as the primary and balance the OH's to taste. I omitted the Bass DI track as it was confusing. It didn't seem to go with the rest of the tracks.

I found the Alexx lead vocal quite hard. I've recorded vocalists before who smoke. When they record immediately after having a cigarette, all the air in the top octave is gone. This one sounded like that to me. Jon's lead vocal was better.

Ultimately, this was fun and quite the learning experience!

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hey Jay, good job! The female vocal seems to need just a touch more volume, while the male one is a bit loud, I'd panned the guitar solo to the center ;P

Hey Jay, Nice mix! I found the kick to be a bit boxy and the bass a little too focused on the mid's and lacking some low end. I like the panning you did with the guitar, I took the same approach, but I felt the right side a bit empty, maybe redericting more of the reverb and room mics of the guitars would help fill that space

Hi Jay,
nice mix and I like your drum sound! Yes this bass DI track was for the trash. Like the other comments here I also would say there are some level jumps on several song sections (for example femal voice a little too less, solo guitar a little too loud). May be it would help the song to compress the mix bus a little more, but before you should look at the level jumps. Nevertheless, good sound and a good mix.
