Hi Soundgymmers, Here is my mix. In general it has not been a difficult job. I have worked especially on the drums and bass to try to make it sound danceable. I have tuned the voices a little, especially the backvocals were very out of tune. Some effects to fill in the emptiest parts. I edited the tambourine to create some movement between the 2 sides. I have wasted a lot of time looking for the amplifier for the sound of the guitars, I have not found anything that convinced me. As always, work prevents me from dedicating more time. Thanks for listening and I hope you like it
Enric - your drums sound good. That work paid off for the mix. I think your guitars sound fine too. this is definitely one of the smoother approaches to this material. If you have more time, I think you could add elements to draw me in a little more. It all sounds very even but I don't find myself leaning forward or looking in the corners for interesting tidbits. Super good balance sonically though.
very nice balance, enjoyable. nice approach on that tambourine and I think you made the vibe work overall. reverb sounds a bit digital, maybe it could have been sweetened out a bit. vocals can gain some air without compromising harshness or clarity. and maybe some glue to the entire mix would be the final touches I think.
Hi Enric, nice to hear from you again. Good mix, but one thing sticking out is the high end of the snare, it's a bit acidic and there is a gap with the rest because around it there is not much with the same high mid to high energy. Otherwise I think the mix has a good balance and tonality. It has a moody atmosphere that suits the song. The guitar amp issue I think is hard to resolve because the way the guitar was played, even with the best amp simulation it sounds kind of quirky.
Thank you all for your advice, you are all right, they are very valuable comments for me and I will take them into account for future mixes, the truth is that every time I am in a mix I think about what you will tell me: too much brightness, too little. ..less voice, more reverb sometimes it's hard to find the middle ground. Tyson, about the voice treatment: I have used: Melodyne to retouch the tuning of some notes, H-EQ Hi-pass at 87 Hz and treble shelving at 8K. PSP VintageWarmer: one touch only. Rvox, another little touch of compression, Rdeesser. I sent this track to a group with the CLA Vocals with the compressor in Spank mode and the delay automated at certain times, a little exciter in the highs and mid-highs with the izotope 5 (consumes little CPU and does the job) The reverb It is a CSR Classik Studio Reverb with the factory preset
@Enric Granollers dont worry about comments when doing the mix. trust your feeling and go for it! ;) see you sunday
