Ghostly Beard – “Fool”
Hey Guys, Here's my mix of Ghostly Beard's Fool.

So happy to carve out a little time today to get this mix out. I went for a mostly top-down approach trying to keep a laid back feel to the song.

Staying away from my usual aggressive compressors (metal guy) to see if I could get a warmer feel going on. I ended up landing on the RS124 on the mix bus, VComp on the vocals and the Chandler Limited Germanium on the drum bus.

I worked on getting the vocals to sit vertically below the guitars. I didn't compress the vocals too hard, but enough to keep them subdued but not quite upfront.

I didn't master it in any real way, just the Pro-L2 to bring it up to -14dbfs.

As always any and all comments are welcomed and appreciated.

Hey Mark, good mix! For me the only thing is about the drums section that could be lowered a bit, right now it seems to steal the main role to the vocals

Hey! from the drums, it seems to me that the kick sounds a bit heavy, and the reverb from the snare wants a gate to make it sound more rhythmic.

Sound good Mark. I think that pulling the kick back and the bass a bit would make it better.

Hey guys, Thank you for your comments.

I actually only used an ambience on the snare, I did smash the room mics to get the depth from there.

Pulling the drums back a bit does make it sound better. Thanks for that.
