Hey everyone!
First time poster here, first real mix after a ~12 years break! I finally felt confident enough to publish something I mixed after this long of time without dealing with sound engineering.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/t9by1v0x7k91xo1/Eyes%20mix.wav?dl=0

As you all know, the vocals and mandoline are not easy to handle in this one. I had to compromise quite a lot on the sound I wanted for the vocals. I managed to get the tone I wanted, very compressed and in your face, but that messed the brass section completely (the bleed is real) so I had to compromise there with much less compression.

I wanted to keep a very dynamic mix, to retain the energy and liveliness of the performance, so there are a lot of volume automations of instruments stepping in and out.

The bleed is present in so many channels that I didn't really need to create space, it was already there, which was nice. Some reverb and slap delay on the vocals, some reverb on snare and acoustic, but nothing more in that area.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

12 years!!! a whole journey without mixing! yet it feels like you completely maintained your style and vision.
Okay, i find that your mix sounds dynamic as you wanted to, good job on that.
At times, it can sound a bit harsh on my ears so maybe just work on that and I think youre back on business haha ;D

Thank you very much for your feedback, Adrián.

I completely agree with the harshness, it seems to be something in me, I drive my recent mixes a little too hard and they end up harsh. Trying to work on that.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Hey Tal, good job! For me the guitar on the right is loud and distract me from the lead vox, the top end of the drum kit is a bit edgy, and I'd add a touch of reverb on the lead vocal, that seems a bit on the dry side for my ears ;P
