Hello everyone, at the beginning I built up the loudness structure. In the next step I used the SSL E console from Brainworx. I use Fabfilter Q3 on every track. I added reverb to some tracks. For me the vocals were important. Then come synth and guitar and finally bass. That's why my kick and snare are a little quieter. My percussion is a little too weak, but I can hear it and that's enough for me. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IE6aG5pr4CrBqQ6yFPhQDm6efvh6HO0j/view?usp=sharing
Klaus this is a very interesting take in headphones. The mix is almost wrapping around my head like a helmet. When I hear this type of sonic picture it tells me that you might have messed with mid-side or a widner tool on the 2 bus. The sonic landscape is unique but also a bit odd - compared to the normal sound we hear most of the time. It's not as apparent in monitors though. From my perspective you've used something on your mix that's giving that mid-side feel. But... after my headphone ears get tuned to what you're doing it starts to feel pretty cool. I am curious, am I right? What did you use?
I used ozone imager on some vocal and instrumental tracks and a stereowidener on the mix bus. Width of the stereo tool widener is put about 120 %. In this case I did not use MS mode on my plugins. But Thanks for your listening and your comment.
Nice, but i think that your sounds lost some focus because of those stereo wideners...all sounds are like they in blur, also your back vocals are too loud and lead vocal a bit lost in the mix
Pavel Gudkov; yes, but I like it and I think it is a balancing in this genre to give room to the bgv. It is no everyday popsong with a vocal and band round it. But ok. I think it could be done better and an another way. Thanks for your comment and listening
If we say: "i mixed it like this cause i want or i like how it sounds" then its ok, but if our goal is to be as close as possible to commercial sounding song then we cant do everything that we want or like...i mean you can, but also there are some "standarts" of good audible sound. I hope you will understand what i mean correctly) i am trying to help to everyone as much as i can. I am not saying here that you make a mistake...just notice that it sounds interesting, but at the same time i dont hear this kind of sound in any commercial tracks. All that stereo wideners if you overdo it just wash you sound away...yes its wide but its blur at the same time)
I got that and I will agree will that. But learning is a way to try out something. Don´ t worry I appreciate your feedback. Next mix - new experience. Thanks for your reply. 👍
