🎛 Hello everyone,

I'm pleased to share my first attempt at mixing "Fool" from Ghostly Beard (and my first mix in this Mixdown Training Room).
SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/manon-the-moon/2021-10-12-ghlostly-beard-fool-v2/s-L2CskytYu6K?si=963d8f80cb174a36a641e2d44ae60592

It still feels a bit messy in some parts but I’m quite happy with most of the balances so far.

I’ve struggled making the chorus vocals sounding sexy. More work is probably needed there to make it sweeter and smoother. Any suggestions are most appreciated.

I’m not a huge fan either of the doubled main theme guitars, one side is delayed compared to the other and it pushes it too far back IMO.

I went a tiny bit far on the kick probably, maybe adjusting lowering it a tiny bit would do the trick but at the same time I like the punch it provides, but as a result the low end moves a little too much.

In some places the crash still sticks out a little too much.

No work on the toms so far, they don't trouble me like this especially since they play a tiny role in the overall piece.

Great song, love the way the rhodes are making it groove.

Let me know what you think and don't hold back 🤗

Hi Raymond, I like your mix, I have approached it in a similar way and I have encountered the same problems that you mention. Good job

Hey! the main problem is that snare has no punch.

Hey Raymond, I think your kick is a bit boomy and the toms loud for the genre but a part from that the mix sounds good for me! ;p

Hey @Raymond RUTJES , Welcome to the MDTR! Great first submission. The thing that stuck out for me is the verb length on the guitars vs the drums. It made the space feel bigger when the guitars hit, but shrink afterwards.
