Hi guys! This is my mix of DUFF - Il Mondo è Impazzito.

Ok, for me it's a weird one, cos it's actually a song I wrote and sang and played guitar on. Although is not always good to mix your songs, I thought I could give it a try. I had this multitracks since when we recorded them in 2004 so i know them pretty well, and that's why i tried something radical, doing a pretty fast mix with just a smidge of sample on the snare, SSL Native ChannelStrip 2 on every channel, a hint of buss compression and a pass on a couple of outboard EQ/compressors. As always, every suggestion or idea or opinion on the mix is very very welcome.

Big thanks to MAGGHY JI and everyone who did their mix of this song (I'm pretty sure way better mixes than mine) but you know, we're here because we LOVE mixing and music is always a MAGIC thing to share.
Cheers from Italy!

Hey Totonno, it is kind of weird to mix your own tracks but I think you did a really good job here. There's nothing really standing out for me, but I actually wouldn't have minded hearing it with the OG snare instead of the sample. It had a bit of a ring to it in the 400ish range but it was definitely something that could be tamed and I think I actually kind of grew to like it's tone over time. Thanks again for the tracks and all the feedback!

Hello @Ben Sinclair thank you very much for listening! Yes I hipassed the original snare at around 1k to put out all the ugly resonances which actually gave that snare his "personality"...but you know in the original mix I always heard that snare in his very natural sound and I wanted to try something a little bit different here, and maybe even quicker to dial in...so here all the mid and bottom end of the snare comes from the sample and is pretty consistent. Sounds to me a little more "produced" but in a good way I hope. I'm pretty stoked that you liked my mix, it was a very quick one but probably the path I'm going with my "SSL desk emulation" template is heading towards the right direction. Thank you and hi from Italy!

Hey @Totonno Nevone , Nice job! Its an advantage when as a mixing engineer you get to consult with the artist. :)

A couple of things that stick out for me. In the sub lows, there's a rumble listen at the 15 second mark. I think its the bass guitar jumping out at that frequency. A multiband compression will tame that one.

Some times the guitars just need a little bit of editing to remove his and string noise. I hear it right at the start. But no biggie if you like that.

The last one, for some reason the click is audible right at the end. I don't remember hearing that, maybe its bleeding in some how?

Do you mind sharing what the song is about?

Hello @Mark Milbourne thanks again for all the interest you are showing, I really appreciate man! Yes I did a quick mix so I totally didn't work on the details you heard, they are definitely there, and also for the clicks of the metronome in the drummer (or singer) tracks. Totally forgot them. I didnt' do any editing, which was definitely needed, although i like the guitar fret noise, it adds that touch of "live" feel :D
About the lyrics, it's actually a song about suicide, but in a "positive" light, the chorus goes something like this :

some are tormented cos they don'know what will happen to them
some are paranoid cos they already know it
and god laughs at us, because his joke worked out
a smile was enough, but instead
the world has gone mad

Thanks for asking and cheers from Italy!
