Hi all!!! I hope nobody minds me asking but I am a musician trying to record, mix, and master all of my music. I am very happy with the strides I have made musically and mixing wise but I know I need to do better. Is there any online courses, youtube channels/ videos, books, teachers, or techniques anybody can recommend?

Thanks so much
-
Anthony

P.S. Feel free to follow as I will give you a follow back!!!

Last year I've subscribed to puremix.net (black-friday sales ;)
They have very good tutorials on recording, mixing, etc. It's a bit pricey..

Hey man!

I feel you. It's the same for me. I write, produce, play, sing, record and mix my music myself.

There are two courses and one book that really helped me a lot:

- A songwriting and producing course by Ryan Tedder that can be found on studio.com

and

- For mixing: audioschoolonline.com by Ken Lewis

But above all I found out that pure practice is what gives you the most. Especially when learning mixing it's so easy to get distracted. But I'd say it's so important to master the basics. And this can only be done by sitting down end experimenting with basic tools like EQ, compression, reverb, delay.

Just take 1 or 2 out of each group and throw them on different material and tweak all the knobs and listen what's happening. And don't just do it for 5 minutes. More like: Take one compressor and tweak around on different material for 1, 2 or 3 hours. You'll definitely learn a lot that way.

At least it kinda works for me. ;)

Check out https://mastering.com/ and their Reverse Engineering program. Their program has been second to none. It costs nothing to jump on a call and talk with them about their program and what your end game is to make sure it's a right fit. I've been in pro audio since the late 70s, built my first studio in the 80's and wish this program was around then! Tell them I referred you! Whatever decision you make, I wish you the best!
