PART I
'Ere SoundJim, 'ave a seat an' I'll tell you a tale about the bugs that ruin your platform.
On a dark and existential night, the slow servers were bound to fail 💀
Just east of Beast's Sight, late before the End of Ace, Cindy was extremely slowly increasing her score 🥱
On Playground, things were sailing away from normal...
Through the mist(akes) and bugs, a dark screenshot emerged from Qandy Queen's wand, a nonsensical 00:00:00 timer standing at its helm 🪄
Course set, intent clear, she hecked down upon us 😨
... Well, that's before servers went down ) (just like my mood to continue this parody lmao)
Speaking of which, thanks to them failing it made me realize my whole life was a lie... again 😩 )) That's because after the contest ended, on my post about my undeserved 1st place (I actually totally deserved it, but we'll get to that later), Cindy said that she can play a game for however long she wants (usually 45 minutes). And I was like uh... what? Like I've been playing games every time for a max of almost 9m (original 180s + bonus 343s from 49 correct answers) and you tell me that you have infinite time?! 🤯 How's that even possible...
Well, Cindy didn't have any intention of hiding anything from me. She thought I'm already doing the infinite time trick because a couple months ago I made a post talking about the "hidden" stages. Yet it was never about anything secret but about the new stages SG intentionally added, infinite time bug not being part of the plan xd (Though I'm curious... was this bug present before the new stages? Because if that's true, I'm thinking Bahram abused it to get those insane high scores)
I'm assuming the vast majority of people have no idea about this because if they had, then the scores wouldn't be so pathetically low. Therefore I believe everybody has the right to know it: after the timer ends and you get redirected to the "Continue" screen, if you press the spacebar, the remaining stages will appear and you'll be able to play with no time limit. The main reason I didn't discover this is that my right hand is on the mouse and left hand is on the arrow keys (left and right, to switch from question to yours) and it's uncomfortable for me to switch to spacebar. It'd distract me a bit and it's faster to just click confirm and continue. And another reason is that sometimes, as a beast, I'd finish 'em all before the official time runs out and therefore I'd have no remaining stages ) (but that obviously comes at the cost of accuracy)
Why am I saying I deserved the 1st place on the last ace despite Cindy having unlucky timing with the servers dying? Because she never actually deserved the 1st place at any ace in the first... place )) Yes, I'm a fool for not discovering the bug she used to gain massive advantage over us mere unaware mortals, but ethically speaking, that's cheating. Sure, rules are the same for everyone, but infinite time is a bug, not a feature (a contest without a time limit makes no sense) and therefore it's unethical to abuse it without most people knowing about it. Cindy B, and others who abused it like Bahram Dashti (the guy with multiple personalities who appears out of nowhere scoring astronomically high and then ridiculously low after, you have a weird humor dude 🤣) and David Alva (who claimed his Drums HD score QUINTUPLED because of "new headphones"... what a joke 😂)
Did my little roast trigger some snowflakes? ⛄ I love how it's perceived as if everyone else has the right to roast me but not the other way around )) It's fun so let's keep doing it but make sure it's quality! )) Anyway, Yo Mike's gonna be like "survival of the fittest" )) in the sense that people who win thanks to dirty tactics deserve it because it's fair to use something that's technically available to everyone. While I do agree with that, it's unfair from a growth perspective. Do we really want to grow our skills? Or do we want to win just for the sake of looking (but not actually being) cool? As any other living bunch of atoms ⚛️ I enjoy winning of course, but an unfair victory is unsatisfying.
But you know what, maybe you don't agree with me. SG is the one in control anyway so why does my opinion matter? Because SG proved to agree with these statements indirectly by almost banning me back in January for trying to win the championship by cheating. Why did I cheat? Because the actual winner of that month cheated first. Was it justified? No, SG clearly explained that if this happens in the future again, I should report the cheaters instead of doing the same. And they're right, except people are not the problem but the holes this platform has 🕳️ Obviously, there'll always be vulnerabilies that can be abused in a way or another (the system can't be perfect), but they can be reduced drastically...
