is it even worth bothering with daily training if I'm traveling and don't have access to an accurate, high-quality sound setup? the only thing I have to listen on at the moment are air pods pro, and there's probably compression buit-in no? which games are worth playing and which aren't?

Can't speak for how AirPods are setup, but I know they are pretty solid when it comes to earbud quality. I also know that the training will be most helpful when done in the same environment you will be mixing in, mostly the EQ & panning related games. Extra practice couldn't hurt though and it might be helpful in a new environment? Just my thoughts

I've had to use air pod pros while traveling before
Although I don't think you get as much out of it without a high-quality setup, I think its better to still do it.
When I did it, I ended up passing a level of Distorted Reality that I'd been stuck on for months😆

@BK yeah I'm wondering if practicing outside of the high-quality environment will just mess me up

Like @Austin Rivers, I also find it helpful to train on a different setup every now and then, and that can help me get through a level I've been stuck on.

Don't train if you don't have great headphones! I initially experimented with several headphones and ended up buying a pair of Seinheiser600s for traveling. They are not terribly expensive and I can still mix, and train as I'd like. AirPods are definitely not built for critical listening, which is what you'd like to do. Take a break, you've earned it.

Once I decided to train while travelling. I had pretty good earbuds pluged in my phone but not something extra, so I was afraid it won't work for workouts and I hear nothing (especially after my DT880pro). But I was very surprised - I could really pass levels with them.

I believe the main point here is that all trainings are based on relative hearing, when you compare one to another. And when you mix songs there you often need to lean on absolute sounding, that is why it's another story and it's much more critical to your headphones and monitors.

Anyway you should try it yourself and decide if it works for you.

I say – just do it! :) It won't mess you up in any way. The worst that could happen – you wouldn't be able to pass any levels.
However, when I just started using soundgym, I used to train on my way to the venue I was working in – by bus! I used Sony MDR7506 straight into my smartphone. And I was able to make quite some progress on this setup.
So why not!

I used to train with a nice pair of Audeze, but now have a €70 pair of semi-open AKG's and they hold up well except with panning/stereo field exercises. The stereo image is absolutely shit. (good way to test headphones btw!)
