Not sure if this is appropriate to ask here, and will delete if not but: How many of you here are making a living in audio production in any form? I'll start. Been doing audio for 20 + years, in all forms from location recording for film, post production, live sound, mix and mastering, music production and still don't seem to be able to make a consistent living from it. Is anyone else feeling this? It seems to have gotten worse in the last few years. I've done hours of research about standard rates etc. but when trying to charge those rates (even on the low end) clients vanish. So I am curious, What would you consider a minimum/ standard rate for audio work and how do you all go about securing clients? How and where are you marketing yourselves? I know its not a black and white issue but would be nice to get a sense of the average.
