Your SPI is defined by your top 3 Highscores divided by the number of games there are. The #1 Highscore of each game counts x3 the second one counts x2 and the third place counts times 1. The sum of this, added up with the sums of each game is divided and that equals your SPI. You neither lose nor get any points if you fail or beat a level, The only thing counting towards your SPI I is if you beat a Highscore. Even if you fail a game but still reach a new highscore your SPI will increase .
I hadn't paid any attention to SPI before, but now you've got me curious! My top scores are (55,540 / 52,000 / 43,800) on DB King (L9), (12,775 / 11,282 / 9015) on Peak Master (L5) and (6,287 / 4,862 / 4,336) on PanGirl (L5). My SPI is 1,050. What calculation leads to 1,050 as the output with those high scores as the input?
