I've tried that @Luc van Hoek, by feeling and hearing I understand what it is. But I have absolutely no idea how to quantify it or identify that amount. I don't fundamentally get it, to me it's like another drum pattern, how do I call it a percentage of swing from something else T_T
You should listen (in your head) the 4 beats on time and try to perceive if there if some displacement in time. You can do this hearing the hithat that usually hit the 4 times or so
@Milo Mastropiero Yes sir. In fact, the explanation is a little deeper. It has to be with music theory. The a) in the image are a quavers playing half beat, and in the c) you have the notation of what it is called a "Swing". This is also called a triplet. b) Is just another type of rhythm that is very similar to c), but they are in fact different In plain words in one beat you play 2 notes, and the first note have more duration that the second note. This type of rhythm is very used in Jazz composition and could be use in production to add groove to you song, to sound "Jazzy". I hope I explained well
@Tata Music Very good explanation my friend, I hope i can apply it to my compositions... don't know if I would can put a percentage number to a swing yet, but is clearer now. Thank you very much!
