Hi guys, maybe you could help me out. I´m wondering how to mix/use compression on drums out of sample packs. Because many of the samples are already mixed and mastered. Should i even compress it anymore, this is the waveform of a sample btw (out of the sample pack). Thanks for helping me out🙌

Not sure which DAW you are using.. But make sure to gain stage the sample before applying any processing to it (either by decreasing the audio object volume on the time line or with a gain plugin first in the chain (Some DAW have this on the channel strip) and not just lower the fader as the fader is post inserts. This way you will create headroom for the additional processing you put on the sample.

looks good and punchy, is that what you are going for? it looks like a full loop, but for hats for example I use ableton's saturator or any clipper and/or limiter to cap them. for kicks it's a bit more complex, I try to go for an even waveform instead of having a bump somewhere.
this particular drum loop probably doesn't need any more treatment but it's hard to tell without hearing it. you could show it to us on soundcloud if you like

You don't even have to compress acoustic drums all the time. You're better off with a transient designer or a saturator if you wanna give it a different character.
