Hey Soundgym family!

I would like to share a rock song that I took part in as Producer, guitar and bass player. This is my very first rock production ever. The song is about those times when rock music was just around the corner playing in every bar and club. Everyone was influenced and it was favoured by many. In today’s generation this has completely changed and the upcoming generations receive stories about completely different things and don’t really get motivated by music to live up to their dreams (here I relate to popular music which it was at that time). The lyrics describes these times with really amazing phrases and the song was released during the corona lockdown back in 2020, strengthening the lack of all these described situations that existed back then. Thanks for listening! 🤠

Mark, just wanted to let you know, when playing this song in the player displayed in this post, it clips constantly on my Apollo Twin audio interface input monitor (goes lightly red just before the drums come, then goes constant red when they do come in.) Note there is no volume slider in this post-view player. I logged into Spotify, and played it there where the volume slider was all the way up, and turning it down a bit cured the problem. I don't know if the Spotify volume was set all the way up because I put it there, or that's the default (if it's the default, I'm thinking you don't want to make everyone turn it down - if they can even hear the clipping - I'm not sure I would have without looking at the levels.) Note, playing it with the player on the SoundGym Spaces page - in the charts list, which also has no volume slider - doesn't clip at all.

A separate wrinkle on this: perhaps the difference in volumes on the two Soundgym pages is a matter for SoundGym to fix.

Your songs Blow Your Cover, and I Can't Find Your Love is also in the red with volume up all the way. The instrumental version of It's Not Pretty does not clip (but I don't think its the lack of vocals that avoids the clipping because they're not all that loud in the vocal version of It's Not Pretty.)

Interesting thoughts! Thanks for the feedback! I will look into this and trying to find out why all the clipping and differences between the different platforms. Have you tried to play it on Tidal, Apple Music or any other streaming platforms? You can also try to find it on YouTube but I think that quality is too much compressed to compare to.

I couldn't get the Apple Music app to play me a preview (kept getting that dialog that wanted me to start listening. On Tidal, in the web app - no red on the Apollo Twin. In the Tidal MacOS app, it hit red momentarily on just the left channel, but much later in the song (around the time the line Rhythm and Blues was sung.) Note both the apps volume was all the way up.

OOps, and Spotify may not be squishing it as much as the other services. I am guessing here.
