Hey guys! I wanted to share some thoughts with you. I´m feeling comfortable with all the games except from PanGirl. I´m around level 20 in the other games but stuck for days on level 12 with PanGirl. I´ve tried with several headphones but still find hard to identify the sounds with more precision in the stereo field. Any advices/experiences here? Thanks everyone!
I'm having exactly the same issue. From what others have said, I think this is where the 'judging the stereo field' limitation of headphones really becomes apparent, and you ideally want to be doing it on studio monitors. I'll be using monitors next week, so will report back.
I struggle with this one too! I can generally tell if the track is panned hard one direction or the other but otherwise anything between dead centre and hard left/right can be really difficult distinguish (and I'm normally pretty sensitive to panning in my own mixdowns)
i tried different headphones and all, and in the end i usually do that one with my studio speakers as well.. for one because i can " mark " the sound ( for example, if i put the soundgym window on my left screen, i know that 40%Left is aprox when the sound is on the little character hehe )

The headphone doesn't create the stereo image like the studio monitors. You can get used to panning stuff in headphones (I tried), but I guess it's normal you have struggle if trying to use headphones for panning
it sounds crazy but sometimes staring directly at the 0 mark and using my peripheral vision is how i can get through pan girl. and use your gut instinct. I feel like the longer we think about it the more lost our brains get
I have the same problem with pangirl... with panning in general, it has been difficult for me to advance in this game...the last thing I did was try with headphones and feel the sound in the back of my neck from the center to the sides and it worked well for me!
I use visual cues. I associate each degree right or left with a location on my rig. So two degrees to the right is at the far top corner of my computer monitor, and all the way to the left sounds like it's coming from just past center on my left monitor cone.
hey ! I personally do it on monitors, the stereo is just way better! but you can try to do it with monitors, go to the area you think it is and check on your headphones to hear how it looks like before validating your answer
On headphones, a couple of things I have found is that you have to go further than you think. Try to see where it sounds then triple it. (x3) Hard pans are tough to get until you hear that they don't just sound wider but they sound further 'back'. Still better with speakers I reckon.
