I've been stuck in Pan Girl at level 18 for more than half of a year, I don't know how to progress in it anymore, I'm using headphones and that's my only available setup at the moment. How to clear those levels in the game? It's only the game that left beyond level 20 in my list.
At the same time I manage to rank in Olympics at about 10th place in SpacePan Champ, if that's information being useful.
Hey! I'm not an expert in the game but what helped me a lot to advance was:
1. Listening with monitors, so it's easier to perceive the stereo image.
2. Make sure the distance between monitors is as accurate as possible, also the distance between the screen and each monitor.
3. When you have a good measure of everything, start creating visual reference points such as; (center of monitor, corner of monitor, corner of screen etc...).
4. Enter the practice section of the game and start moving around all the points of the stereo image and creating fixed visual and sound reference points. Try to memorize them.
Do this with a lot of patience and you will surely improve!
Hey! I use headphones with realphones plagin. It create simulation of room/monitors. I dont know how that is quality but i hope it is. On my years it sonds like i hear monitors. What do you think about? Unfortenaturely i didnt compare in reallity the difference
@Beto Ojeda Unfortunately, I have no access to monitors, due to my life situation, I need to move around places, so it's not right time for building a room with monitors right now.
However, I find your advice helpful, I do enter practice mode and try to remember how it feels when a sound panned in certain way
@Dmitriy Mazur I have the plugin, though it's not helping me much. Also, they release 2nd generation of the plugin, check it out or yours is updated, but it looks different from mine
This is my hardest game as well! I found that, using headphones, if I took took one ear off and l compare the volumes of each ear relative to eachother, it helps me hone in on the position. A bit of a hack, but stereo imaging on headphones is pretty tough!
Yep, agree with Melchior - I found the Beyerdynamic DT1990 pro - and even better - the Sennheiser HD650 to have really good soundstage and stereo imaging. Way better than DT770 pro for example.
I use headphones and find it really slow going . . . but with patience, I think it's possible to learn how the stereo sounds on your particular setup.
If you go from phones to speakers, it may suit you better or it may be a new situation that you have to learn from scratch!
My main mantra on SoundGym is patience.
Best wishes and good luck, Rick
