Haha And I thought it was just me! Around 1k of those 3.5k coins are mine, just to make a good flawless game. Still I haven't succeeded. Even on my highest score I missed one.
It was a hell of a contest. I think I spent a couple hundred coins on this one trying to reach the top 10. Is it just me, or is the competition getting tighter and tighter?
It certainly feels that way! This was probably the closest I got to getting a medal on Boost Champ. A few weeks ago the top scores seemed unreachable to me. Now they kind of still feel like that (especially if Beto, Kapone and some others play), but I'm at least closer to them. I must admit the Boost and Cut games started to get on my nerves. Too much refreshing just to get a single proper game. :P
Taking as my cue the insight by Gallway in The Inner Game of Tennis (1974), I try to resist the urge to hammer refresh after a fuck-up, because it creates a psychological feedback loop which associates frustration with an error, rather than the joy of discovering an optimisation pathway, a maladaptation which impedes the dopaminergic learning signal. Similarly, I discover I perform substantially better when I obscure the score and my remaining time, 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, when I believe I am close to achieving a high score.
