Music Spot: Burner Account - Andrew Reynolds (Doctor MojoTrip)
Treating the whole arrangement like a giant drum kit, this track layers snares, reversed snaps, granular glitches, and stretched-out artifacts into a tribal, fractal groove built for the dance floor. Burner Account by @Doctor MojoTrip is this month's MusicSpot!
Still really bad at identifying frequencies, but just for funsies I decided to play around with the Feedback Eliminator to determine the frequency of my tinnitus. It's somewhere between 12.5k and 16k. Now can someone come EQ my ears please, it's really annoying. 😹
Just something to share... Every time I have earned a badge, I have bought myself a SoundGym T-Shirt. It's pretty cool to go around bragging with my friends though none of them understand what this is about lol... and also a good way to support this great site :)
Hey Rachel, here are my notes. I think the kick & snare are overpowering the vocals. There's too much crack (high end) for the snare, try EQ it or audition with other snare samples. The sub bass is too much which I don't think it compliments the vocals. I would try to find some other bass sounds that can fill up the frequencies between 100 - 200hz. The vocals are missing some really important information at mids to high mids which are for clarity and also ultra highs for a bit of shimmery/expensive sound. Adding reverb on the vocals I think can serve the spacey/laid back/reverby vibe of the song pretty well too. The BGVs could benefit to sit forward in the mix as it is quite burried. The arpeggio sound is very low in volume, I think it can come up more as I can barely hear it. These are the main issues I'm hearing. Take only what you need and also let's see what others think about it. Hope this helps and would love to hear the full song once it's done.
